PT Help
Posted by Jodi Jainchill PT, CFMTYour doctor just referred you to Physical Therapy. Now what? The first thing I want you to remember is you have a choice of which P.T. you see for treatment. There are different types of Physical Therapists and many levels of experience a P.T. can have. In physical therapy, you can learn how to manage your pain and learn preventative treatment. Yes, that’s right. You are in charge. So get educated. You can refer to my articles and “Hoop Benefits” page to help establish your goals for P.T.
You can find a local Therapist from these respected sites:
You can also check out the clinic your going to go to for P.T. Does the clinic focus on manual therapy (that means the PT works on your body each visit)? Do you get one-on-one care from your P.T. and not just an exercise trainer? Are your exercises supervised by your P.T.? Do you see lots of tables/mats set up rather than just heavy weight equipment? Is it an environment where you’ll feel comfortable to learn and meet your goals?
